Wise Mind, Healthier Mind

 

What is wise mind you may be asking? When I think about “the wise mind”, I picture an owl or a mellow old person. While they both may be wise, it turns out that anyone can achieve this state. A wise mind is a state of being essential to make the wisest and most effective decisions. Kind of like a gut feeling.

We contain many mind states, but our emotional and reasonable minds are present when making decisions. The emotional state of mind controls your thoughts, urges and behaviors, regardless of your long-term goals. On the other hand, the reasonable state of mind is active when reason and logic control your thoughts, urges and behaviors. It might sound good, but in this state you can be inflexible, and without emotion you can ignore your sense of empathy and values. Not so great. 

Wise mind is the integration of both.  Finding this can be difficult. The sweet video above from Rutgers, offers up some easy tips to achieve the Wise Mind state. Check it out.
